Brutal treatment described in Hawke's Bay slavery trial

From Checkpoint, 5:27 pm on 2 March 2020

A teenage boy has described being beaten, stabbed and fed only stale food by the man accused of using him as slave in Hawke's Bay.

He is the last, and youngest, of the 13 complainants to give evidence against the Hastings-based Samoan chief, Joseph Matamata, who is on trial for human trafficking and slavery at the High Court in Napier.

Anusha Bradley was there and filed this report.
