Treasury cops the cane for 2019 pre-Budget leak

The State Services Commissioner says Treasury officials doing their best was "not good enough" ahead of last year's leak of information on a government website.

However he didn't point the finger at any individuals. Peter Hughes says Budget security is paramount and Treasury officials should have checked the information was secure before posting it on a clone website prior to official publication.

Despite former head of Treasury Gabriel Makhlouf claiming the system was "deliberately and systematically hacked", today's findings say Treasury's approach with its new website was "rushed and sub-optimal".
