UPDATE 17:35: Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has confirmed the Covid-19 case being tested in NZ is positive. A person in their 60s is in Auckland Hospital. They are a permanent resident to NZ and had been in Iran. They are in a stable condition.

Test results are due later this evening on New Zealand's possible first case of Coronavirus.

Ministry of Health Director General Ashley Bloomfield told reporters in Wellington earlier this evening that testing is underway on a suspected case. He said the person travelled to New Zealand earlier in the week from Iran, and is now at Auckland City Hospital.

Meanwhile the Health Minister David Clark says there will be no exemptions for students from China who have been waiting to return to New Zealand for study.
