New Zealand Football is quietly confident after completing the next step in their joint bid with Australia to host the 2023 Women's World Cup.

With a final decision around three months away - a team from world governing body FIFA spent three days in both countries last week assessing potential host cities, stadiums and training facilities.

The FIFA team has already assessed the bids of Brazil and Colombia - with final contender Japan, the last stop to make.

NZ Football chief executive Andrew Pragnell told Clay Wilson while the joint bid is up against strong competition - they are cautiously optimistic about their chances.
