Ardern pledges $2m for Fiji climate change help

From Checkpoint, 5:48 pm on 26 February 2020

The Prime Minister has seen real poverty in Fiji but says despite some New Zealanders also living in hardship, doing nothing to help the Pacific isn't an option.

Jacinda Ardern visited a settlement in Suva today where Australian and New Zealand funding is helping improve sanitation and water supply to local communities.

Ms Ardern says Fiji has a different measure of poverty and New Zealanders appreciate that a small amount of money can make a big difference in the Pacific.

RNZ political reporter Jo Moir is travelling with the Prime Minister and joins us now from Suva.
