National pressures govt to get tough on Australian criminals

The National Party is putting pressure on the Prime Minister to take a tougher stance on deporting Australian criminals ahead of her trip across the Tasman this week.

National leader Simon Bridges says if elected, he would explore a policy based on amendments to Australia's Migration Act in 2014 which allows for people to have their visas cancelled on character grounds.

But the Prime Minister has branded Mr Bridges' stance as naive.
