Remaining Wuhan evacuees cleared of coronavirus - David Clark

From Checkpoint, 5:45 pm on 19 February 2020

The two Wuhan evacuees who remained in quarantine at Whangaparāoa have been cleared of coronavirus, after showing coronavirus-like symptoms.

"I have just literally got off the phone with the news that those people have been tested, and the tests have come back negative," Health Minister David Clark told Checkpoint.

Eight more people will arrive at the Defence Force base from the Diamond Princess cruise ship later on Thursday.

It comes after it was revealed 16 New Zealanders from Holland America's MS Westerdam were allowed to disembark the ship in Cambodia at the weekend just hours after an elderly passenger tested positive for Covid-19.

Those passengers, including a family of five, were allowed to fly home to New Zealand where they have now placed themselves in self-isolation for 14 days.
