Housing Minister discusses $300m plan to tackle homelessness

The government wants to stop relying on motels for emergency housing - but it won't stop using them entirely.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and housing ministers Megan Woods and Kris Faafoi, have unveiled a $300 million action plan to tackle and prevent homelessness.

It includes $175 million for an extra 1,000 transitional housing places by the end of the year to get families languishing in motels into more suitable places.
