Flaxmere landlord not aware of police inquiry after boy injured

From Checkpoint, 5:09 pm on 12 February 2020

The owner of a Flaxmere property where a four-year-old boy suffered critical injuries says he rented the Ramsey Crescent property about a year ago to a woman and three young children but had no idea it was at the centre of a police investigation until contacted by Checkpoint on Wednesday.

Detective Inspector Mike Foster said on Tuesday the boy's injuries, which happened on January 29, were some of the most severe he had seen in 30 years of policing.

The landlord said he lives in another city and the house was managed by a local property management company.

He told Checkpoint's Bridget Burke he visited very recently and on that occasion there was also a man at the house.

The landlord said the tenants were good people who always paid their rent on time.
