Coronavirus hampers build-up to Tokyo Olympics - Nick Willis

Two-time Olympic medallist Nick Willis says the decision to postpone the world indoor athletic champs in China because of the coronavirus is the right one, but will hamper the build up to the Tokyo Olympics for many athletes.

Willis, along with four other New Zealand athletes - Tom Walsh, Jacko Gill, Dame Valerie Adams, and Maddison-Lee Wesche - were due to compete at the event in March.

He has a programme of six races over the next seven weeks - including several in New Zealand.

He told RNZ sports editor Stephen Hewson his plan was to tag world champs onto the end of that.
