Alcohol, drug courts made permanent, more to come

The government has announced the pilot alcohol and drug treatment courts in Auckland and Waitakere will be made permanent, and a third will open next year in Waikato.

The announcement comes on the same day two massive reports from the Safe and Effective Justice Advisory Group and the Chief Victims Advisor are released, both of which make a raft of recommendations to overhaul the criminal justice system.
