Major blaze, explosions at Takanini warehouse fire

From Checkpoint, 5:43 pm on 4 December 2019

A large fire has broken out at a warehouse in an industrial area of South Auckland, sending plumes of black smoke across Takanini.

Twenty fire trucks are responding to the blaze, which started around 4.30pm Wednesday.

Fire and Emergency says the blaze broke out at a furniture removers and everyone was safely evacuated from the building.

Nearby resident Ben Ross told reporter Amy Williams the acrid smoke stinks, and his family have closed all the windows and doors to their home.
