Unimmunised toddler refused vaccine in NZ, returns to Samoa

An unimmunised toddler has landed in Samoa on Tuesday afternoon, after being refused a measles vaccine in New Zealand. The 15-month-old boy had been visiting New Zealand with his family but had been denied a vaccine at an Auckland medical clinic because he did not have a New Zealand passport, his godparents said. His parents fearing for his health, left him in New Zealand with his godparents, but on Tuesday they took him home, with everyone hoping for the best. It comes as the death toll in Samoa rose by two overnight to 55. The boy's godfather Mark Wendt spoke to Checkpoint's Nita Blake-Persen.
