Urgency of upgrading Wellington quake resilience laid bare

The urgency of upgrading Wellington's earthquake resilience has been laid bare in a new report.

The Lifelines Regional Resilience Project warns Wellington could be without electricity for up to six months if a major earthquake were to happen at current levels of resilience.

But it says by investing in such projects now, when the eventual earthquake does hit, the damage won't be as consequential.
