Wainuiomata wall transformed by lego 'Banksy'

It's not your typical lego creation. One by one giant spray-painted lego heads have been popping up, brightening a boring concrete retaining wall near the Lower Hutt suburb of Wainuiomata.

The artist - dubbed the Wainuiomata Banksy - has so far stencilled on nine block characters, with locals who drive over the hill each day, eager to see what new one might be there, and the artwork now also drawing in curious out-of-towners.

But, who is Banksy - or Blocksy should we call him?

RNZ's Emma Hatton and Dom Thomas went to investigate.
