Amber-Rose Rush case: Accused killer lied about mother's death, court hears

From Checkpoint, 5:40 pm on 19 November 2019

The former doctor accused of murdering Amber-Rose Rush lied about his mother's death to save his job at Dunedin Hospital, a High Court jury has been told.

Venod Skantha is on trial for the 16-year-old's murder in February last year.

On Tuesday the court was told of Mr Skantha's behaviour in the year leading up to Miss Rush's death, including an incident where he showed up at the hospital and treated a patient while off-duty.

RNZ Otago-Southland reporter Timothy Brown has been following the case.
