Police release video of attack on North Shore

From Checkpoint, 6:19 pm on 13 November 2019

Police have released CCTV footage of a man who they believe is opportunistically preying on young women on Auckland's North Shore.

On Friday afternoon a woman in her mid-20s was assaulted from behind and left with a dislocated shoulder while jogging on a track between Browns Bay Road and Beechwood Road.

Camera footage shows a man was in the area at the time of the attack.

The man is described as mid-20s, 5'10" and overweight - walking and then running from a walking path.

There were two other incidents where women were assaulted on a track between Murray's Bay and Rothesay Bay nearby in October.

RNZ reporter Jordan Bond asked Detective Senior Sergeant Callum McNeill if there was any sexual element to last friday's attack.
