Winston Peters' privacy case against top civil servants wraps up

The Deputy Prime Minister's case against two top civil servants, two former government ministers and a ministry has wrapped, with the judge reserving his decision.

Winston Peters is suing because he doesn't believe then-ministers Anne Tolley and Paula Bennett should have been briefed about his superannuation overpayment.

Mr Peters' lawyer Brian Henry says there was a clear breach, and the only purpose for the briefings was "salacious gossip".

But Crown lawyer Victoria Casey QC closed today by arguing Mr Peters' claim "falls away entirely" when held up against the law.

Political reporter Yvette McCullough was in court and filed this report.
