National Botany candidate Chris Luxon makes waves in Parliament

National's newest and most high profile recruit Christopher Luxon is already making waves in Parliament.

The former Air New Zealand boss was last night selected as the party's Botany candidate for next year's election - a seat currently held by independent MP Jami-Lee Ross.

But less than 24 hours after gaining the nomination, he's already gone further than National's leader by suggesting that penalties for anti-vaxxers should extend to parents receiving Working for Families benefits.
