Grace Millane: Jury warned over vigils as accused killer's trial starts

From Checkpoint, 5:10 pm on 4 November 2019

The trial of the man accused of murdering the British backpacker Grace Millane has begun, with the judge warning the jury they will need to put any feelings of sympathy and prejudice aside.

Ms Millane went missing on the eve of her 22nd birthday, last December, while she was in New Zealand on her OE.

Her disappearance sparked a massive police investigation and her body was found buried in the Waitakere Ranges a week later.

RNZ reporter Sarah Robson is covering the case at the High Court in Auckland.
