From Checkpoint, 5:55 pm on 31 October 2019

There has been no time for World Cup skiing champ Alice Robinson to celebrate her success, as she is rushing home from the slopes of Austria to complete her NCEA level 3 studies.

Seventeen-year-old Robinson edged out Olympic champion Mikaela Shiffrin to win the World Cup season-opening giant slalom event in Solden at the weekend.

Robinson is in her final year at Wakatipu High School and has to finish off a couple of history assignments before heading off to Colorado for the rest of the international ski season.

She spoke to RNZ sports editor Stephen Hewson about her remarkable success and juggling the two worlds of professional skiing and school.
