Tonga league stars take field amid legal stoush

Top Tongan rugby league players have snubbed their own domestic rugby league organisation in order to play upcoming international games.

The Tonga National Rugby League sacked coach Kristian Woolf weeks out from the matches, prompting a war of words that is now threatening to head to the courts.

A newly-dubbed 'Tonga Invitational Thirteen' will now play, featuring the sacked coach and the marquee players who rallied behind him.
