Banking hubs announced for NZ regions

The country's biggest banks have announced they will be trialing regional hubs, and have shelved further closures of branches outside the main centres, for now.

The government has announced four multi-branded hubs will be trialed in Opunake, Martinborough, Stoke and Twizel for 12 months from early next year.

It comes after both government and community concern about the closure of banks in small towns.
