Bay of Plenty hapū accuses council of breaking promise

From Checkpoint, 5:50 pm on 25 September 2019

A Bay of Plenty hapū is accusing the Tauranga City Council of breaking its promise to gift or lease a significant piece of land back to it.

Last year the council agreed in principle that the land at 11 Mission Street was to be returned to the Otamataha Trust, and then perpetually leased to the Elms Foundation.

But the decision was finally made, that a separate entity be set up, to administer the land involving both the hapū and the foundation.
