The Minister responsible for the Royal Commission of Inquiry into Abuse in State Care has refused to express confidence in its leadership, following revelations a convicted sex offender attended some of its meetings.
Tracey Martin is demanding answers after news broke on Tuesday morning that the partner and support person of one of the Commission's survivor advisory group members is a convicted paedophile.
The inquiry says it found out in May the man - who can't be named for legal reasons - had convictions, but it was not until August 22 that it discovered they were for child sex abuse.
It's the latest criticism leveled at how the Royal Commission has run, and as politicians weigh in, survivors are hoping it won't curtail action against abusers.
