Auckland Council says an independent review has been launched into how a young man died after an accident on a Lime scooter a week ago.

The Council's director of regulatory services, Craig Hobbs, told Lisa Lime has given assurances it can find no fault with the scooter involved in the fatal incident, but the Council is reserving judgement pending the outcome of its own investigation.

The 23-year-old who who died in hospital on Friday evening was riding the scooter just after 6pm last Monday when witness Jeff Young saw the incident unfold.
