Mental Health Foundation criticises gun law changes

Creating a boogey man and stigimatising people living with mental illness.

That's the Mental Health Foundation's verdict on a proposal to include a mental health clause in proposed changes to gun laws.

It would require doctors to report people to the police if they think they're unfit to have a firearms licence or use guns due to their mental health.

Police Minister Stuart Nash doesn't believe the proposed law changes will stigmatise those with mental health issues.

But Sophia Graham from the Mental Health Foundation tells Lisa Owen the reforms are unfair on people with mental illness.
