Govt slammed for tiny house 'hypocrisy'

When is a house a vehicle? Tiny house owners are accusing the government of hypocrisy, amid fierce debate over the status of their homes.

The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment insists tiny houses must comply with the building code, and they can't put their houses on wheels as a way of saving tens of thousands of dollars.

But last month it ordered its own batch of tiny houses for emergencies, and obtained an exemption so they can have wheels.
