Labour assaults: Accused staffer resigns from Parliament

From Checkpoint, 6:10 pm on 12 September 2019

The Labour staffer at the centre of allegations of sexual assault has quit, saying he wanted to avoid any further stress or distraction.

The staffer made his first public statement this afternoon since claims of bullying, harassment and sexual assault were reported roughly five weeks ago.

It's the second resignation for the Labour Party in what has been a week of intense public scrutiny following explosive allegations on thespinoff.co.nz on Monday, accusations of a cover-up and the resignation of the Party President on Wednesday.

RNZ political reporter Jo Moir has the story.
