A court has heard a man accused of murdering a Northland toddler looked "like a rabbit in the headlights" after the girl died.
Aaron Archer is on trial in the High Court in Auckland - accused of murdering his former girlfriend's daughter in her Mangawhai home.
Thursday marks one year since Ariah Dawn Roberts died in his care.
The jury learned she isn't the first child her mother has lost.
