Forty dead in Christchurch terror attack - PM

From Checkpoint, 7:25 pm on 15 March 2019

Forty people have died in a terror attack at two Christchurch mosques today, says Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern. "This is unprecedented, unlike anything we've seen before". Ms Ardern says New Zealand was targeted "because we represent diversity, kindness and compassion." She says those values will not be shaken by this attack. "We are not a place where violent extremism exists. We reject those notions and we must continue to reject them. This is not an enclave for that kind of behaviour and ideology."
