Christchurch shootings: National security agencies at crisis meeting in Wellington

From Checkpoint, 5:00 pm on 15 March 2019

RNZ political editor Jane Patterson says the Prime Minister is on a flight to Wellington, as national security agencies meet at police headquarters in Wellington. The Officials Committee for Domestic and External Security Coordination - commonly known as ODESC - is a committee of chief executives which oversee national security in New Zealand. The group acts as a key communication point for the Prime Minister, Cabinet and supporting Ministers. It's tasked with coordinating the "all-of-government" response and providing strategic advice on priorities and risk mitigation. ODESC is also responsible for ensuring the lead agency has the necessary resources and capabilities.
