The Government plans to introduce a new Resource Management Act in the Exclusive Economic Zone and extended Continental Shelf. Chatham Rock Phosphate wants to mine on the seabed of the Chatham Rise, some 450 kilometres east of Christchurch. The company's managing director, Chris Castle, told our business editor, Patrick O'Meara the planned changes will bring much-needed certainty.
