Auckland Airport’s Mandarin-speaking volunteers

Auckland Airport hasn’t been shy about its goal of getting 430,000 Chinese visitors through its arrival doors by 2020.  The Airport’s Ambition strategy released last year states that in seven years’ time, Asia could provide $2.9 billion of the projected $8.5 billion in inbound tourism value, with China providing the lion's share at S1.5 billion dollars. With numbers of Chinese travellers already up nearly 24 percent from last year, the airport has realised that a warm New Zealand welcome should be extended in Mandarin, as well.
