This week's critter is the hura te ao gecko, discovered in 2018 among rocky outcrops high in the mountains of North Otago. The hura te ao gecko is nocturnal, and matches the night sky with a stunning starry pattern on its back. This galactic gecko illustrates how much we have to discover about New Zealand's unique reptiles.
