1:15 NZ Music - Live
New Zealand Live until two with more music from our top musicians. By way of a change today we have a band in our Wellington studio that have never actually played together before even though they've just released an album. It's not that they are unknown to each other, in fact two of the principals go back a long way, but this was one of those CD's created with the use of digital and internet technology and by band members in different centres. One of those involved is very familiar to us all. He was on this very show just four weeks ago as a member of the Fourmyula, just prior to their reunion concert in Upper Hutt. Today he teams up with childhood friend and former band mate from another top 60s Kiwi band The Kal-Q-Lated Risk.

The finish line is in her sights. Twelve days after setting sail in the 2010 Solo Tasman Challenge, Trish Lewis is about to become the first woman in 35 years to sail solo across the Tasman in a 25 foot yacht. She's overcome deck leaks, electrical problems... and major sleep deprivation to sail 1280 nautical miles from Port Taranaki New Plymouth on her beloved yacht Wishbone.
Moko the Dolphin is making waves in Whakatane. Moko first arrived in Gisborne in November 2009 and delighted crowds with his friendly antics.
In January, he moved up the coast to Whakatane.Volunteer "Moko Minders" were appointed by the Council to keep an eye on the friendly dolphin. The idea started in Gisborne when someone was seen harassing Moko.
Now, at least one Dolphin Watching tour operator in the Whakatane area has complained to the district council that "Moko Minders" were overstepping their role and ferrying passengers to see Moko.
The tour operator was granted permission to run a ferry service himself, and was charging $2.50 for kids, and $5 for adults who wanted to get closer at the bottlenose dolphin.
The Whakatane District council stepped in this morning and met with the Moko Minders.

Dry River Late Harvest Riesling 2009 $62
Precious few get to try this wine because those in the know pounce on it as soon as it's released - but I say beg, steal, borrow, do whatever you can to at least try this wine as soon as you possibly can. Brilliant white gold colour and ultra-concentrated mandarin, preserved lemon, lime sorbet and manuka honeyed notes. Incredibly clean and refined and rippling with tangy, tropical fruit and has powerful persistence of flavour. This is hands-down the BEST late harvest Riesling I've ever tried. www.dryriver.co.nz
