Cowboys and Indies

From Access All Areas, 2:30 pm on 20 May 2015

Claims of a recording industry in crisis are nothing new to author Gareth Murphy.

His new book Cowboys and Indies: The Epic History of the Record Industry, charts the difficult relationship between artists, technology and ‘record men’ for the past 160 years. Murphy explains how significant historical events shape the recording industry and influence popular musical trends. He tells Trevor Reekie that the music business will improve when we can once again believe in our pop stars.
