The Power of Two - Checkpoint Changes on Radio New Zealand National

Released at 3:25 pm on 3 July 2014

Change is in the air with presenters Mary Wilson and Jim Mora looking forward to combining their complementary talents for two hours as co-hosts of Checkpoint from next Monday 7th July on Radio New Zealand National.

The tandem hosting of Checkpoint will use Jim Mora’s presentation skills to introduce a new dimension to the existing strong news based programme fronted by Mary Wilson.

Mary Wilson appreciates the added value  “I’m really looking forward to having Jim there to share the workload “  while Jim Mora emphasises the potential of dual presentation - “It’ll be a great chance to develop a new tandem sound, and to build on Checkpoint’s very high reputation as one of Radio New Zealand’s top ranking programmes.”

While there will be some changes to the overall sound of Checkpoint with dual hosting, the programme will not change editorially. The focus will remain 100% news driven and Checkpoint will continue to give over 200,000 listeners the most authoritative and complete summary of the day’s news available in New Zealand.

Jim Mora continues to host The Panel from 4 pm to 5pm, a very popular segment with the biggest afternoon radio listenership in New Zealand.

Mary Wilson will be Wellington based and a new production team working with Jim Mora in Auckland will have their finger on the pulse of New Zealand’s largest city.
