RNZ is pleased to announce that Kara Rickard (Ngāti Porou, Ngāti Koata, Tainui) is the new host of flagship music programme Music 101 on RNZ National.
An experienced radio and television broadcaster, Rickard has presented holiday programme On the Air with Mark Williams since 2022, as well as filling in on Music 101.
Award-winning music journalist and host of The Sampler Tony Stamp will join Rickard as Music 101 Producer.
RNZ’s Chief Content Officer Megan Whelan says Music 101 is a cornerstone for both music lovers and musicians – a show where music from Aotearoa and around the world comes to life.
“It’s fantastic to confirm the team that will carry that legacy forward. Kara has already made an impression as an occasional presenter on RNZ National and we’re stoked to have her on board as the host of Music 101.
Kara and Tony bring infectious energy to the show, thanks to their presenting and producing talent, deep musical knowledge, and shared passion for music. We can’t wait for audiences to hear and see what they will bring to the show.”
Music 101 with Kara Rickard will be on air this Saturday from 1pm.
