Award-winning broadcaster Charlotte Ryan to host Music 101

Award-winning broadcaster Charlotte Ryan will host RNZ’s Saturday afternoon music programme Music 101 from Saturday, 31 August.

Charlotte is a talented broadcaster with almost 20 years’ experience. She’s hosted high-profile shows on Radio Live, Kiwi FM, and Auckland’s 95bFM, as well as co-hosting political TV show Back Benches (with RNZ’s Wallace Chapman), and THREE’s Paul Henry Show.

She was awarded Metro Magazine’s "Best Friend in Radio" in 2011, and nominated again in 2012.

“RNZ Music is stoked to have a broadcaster of Charlotte’s calibre join our team,” said RNZ’s Music Content Director Willy Macalister.

Mr Macalister said Charlotte is a highly influential music presenter who brings years of experience and knowledge to Music 101. 

“Charlotte will be a great asset to RNZ.”

Charlotte will be familiar to RNZ listeners through her music reviews on Nine to Noon as well as guest slots at RNZ’s coverage of the APRA Silver Scroll song writing awards.

“I’ve listened to RNZ since I was young,” said Charlotte. “It’s always been a dream for me to host the Saturday afternoon music show. I’m so excited to join the RNZ music team and to get back on-air with Music 101."

Alongside her broadcasting work, Charlotte has managed bands, run her own publicity company, worked for music festivals and international and local touring artists.

Most recently Charlotte has been hosting the Air New Zealand show "The Pitch", as well as working as PA to Neil and Sharon Finn.

Music 101 is RNZ’s flagship contemporary music programme, broadcast on RNZ National 101FM each Saturday from 1-5pm. Music 101 reaches 110,300 New Zealander each week.
