A Samoan academic in New Zealand says despite the caretaker prime minister's defiance, Samoa's political impasse will most likely be resolved next week.
On Monday the Supreme Court ordered parliament to be convened within seven days.
But on Wednesday night Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi insisted that parliament can only be properly constituted after all petitions, by-elections and other electoral matters are concluded.
Tuilaepa even went as far as accusing the judiciary of over-reaching its powers.
Joining me now to break down the latest developments is Fuimaono Dylan Asafo lecturer at law at Auckland University.
Welcome Dylan, so what do you make of Tuilaepa's comments?
