Now as Samoan Language Week comes to a close, the Hurricanes Super Rugby team has embarked on their own quest to learn gagana Samoa.
They've made a trek from the rugby field to the lecture theatre, undertaking a Samoan language and culture programme at Wellington's Victoria University.
One of the players shared his special story with Mariner Fagaiava-Muller.
