NZ govt should be more open about aid programme spend

An academic says the New Zealand Government should be more open about spending under its aid programme.

In the recent Budget the government has indicated there will be a slight fall over the next year and then a slight rise in subsequent, but the total spend relative to the size of the economy is declining.

Terence Wood who is with the Development Policy Centre at the Australian National University, co-ordinates the New Zealand Aid and Development Dialogues, or NZ ADDs.

He told Don Wiseman the lack of clarity around aid spending needs to change.
