The Papua New Guinea Parliament finally got down to work on Wednesday and MPs used the first part of the sitting to express their concerns for the victims of the Yambali landslip in Enga Province.
More than 2000 people are estimated to have died when a massive amount of dirt and rock collapsed on the village early last Friday morning.
MPs spoke of the disaster amid concerns they were distracted by a planned vote of no confidence in Prime Minister James Marape.
RNZ Pacific's PNG correspondent, Scott Waide told Don Wiseman that it was a sombre mood in the House on Wednesday.
