MPs in Papua New Guinea are now back in parliament with a vote of no confidence expected to happen later this week.

Prior to the session the MPs have been in two camps, one at an exclusive resort on an island near the capital and the other at a Port Moresby hotel.

As is usually the case the numbers for either side are very fluid and it is not at all clear if Prime Minister James Marape faces a serious threat of losing his job.

Don Wiseman spoke with RNZ Pacific's correspondent in PNG, Scott Waide, about the latest developments.
