The Pacific Games in Solomon Islands has now been officially announced as the largest ever in the history of the regional tournament.
Over 5000 athletes, officials and participants from 24 countries have been competing in 24 sports in and around the capital Honiara.
The chief executive of the Games Organising Committee, Peter Stewart, commended the people of Solomon Islands for pulling off an extraordinary event that welcomed people from all over the Pacific.
He spoke to RNZ Pacific Editor, Koroi Hawkins at the National Stadium in Honiara ahead of the opening ceremony.
