David Adeang has become Nauru's fourth president in the past four years after winning election following the removal of Russell Kun in a vote of no confidence last week.
He has had a 22-year career in Nauru, mostly in government and mostly in key roles, often including being the driving force in the cabinet.
RNZ Pacific's Don Wiseman spoke with Massey University senior security lecturer, Anna Powles [Poles] about Mr Adeang taking Nauru's top job.
