The law school at the University of Waikato in Kirikiriroa Hamilton has appointed a Samoan woman to a professorship, the first time a Pacifica woman has held such a role in New Zealand.
The university has also appointed Fijian Unaisi Narawa as a lecturer in the law faculty.
The assistant vice channcellor Pacific, Dr Keakaokawai Varner Hemi says these appointments highlight the talent coming out of the Pacific communities.
Tafaoimalo Tologata Professor Leilani Tuala-Warren, who has previously been an academic in Fiji and a Supreme Court judge in Samoa, spoke with RNZ Pacific's Don Wiseman, who began by asking what she will be teaching at Waikato.
