There have long been tensions on Guam due to the heavy United States military presence there, but as Washington moves to counter China's presence in the region it is sending more soldiers and missiles to Guam and updating naval facilities there; Tributes have been flowing throughout the week for the late Tongan Princess Mele Siu'ilikutapu, who passed away in Auckland on Sunday May 28; For the first time the countries in the Pacer Plus free trade agreement are meeting face to face this week on Niue; National Geographic's Pristine Seas has launched what they are calling "The Global Expedition" ;The organisation plans to spend five years exploring the remote tropical Pacific on a mission to support local conservation efforts in the world's most diverse ocean ecosystem.
