There have been a number of groups, both local and international, who have been monitoring the increasingly fractious elections in Papua New Guinea.
One, the Commonwealth Observers, has now released a scathing interim report on what its monitors have seen.
They are pointing to flaws in the Electoral Commission, under-funding by government and widespread criminality.
RNZ Pacific's correspondent in PNG, Scott Waide, told Don Wiseman that these observations echo what many Papua New Guineans have been saying for a long time.
